TURNERVILLE, Ga. - Sybil Pounds, 54, a former resident of DeLand,
died April 15, 2001, at Habersham Hospital in Demorest, Ga.
A native of DeLand, Ms. Pounds had worked in the nursing field in
the Atlanta area for the past 25 years.
She is survived by three brothers, Walter Pounds of DeLand,
Douglas Pounds of Kennesaw, Ga., and Wayne Pounds of Belleville, Ill.;
two sisters, Janet Hamer and Myra Stone, both of DeLand; nine
nieces, seven nephews, three great-nieces and 10 great-nephews.
Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, in Demorest was in charge.

Barbara Wiseman Thomas
PALATKA - Barbara Wiseman Thomas, 56, a former longtime resident of DeLand,
died Jan. 10, 2004, at Putnam Medical Center in Palatka.
A homemaker, Mrs. Thomas was born and raised in DeLand. She graduated from
DeLand High School, moved away when she married, and often returned to DeLand
to visit family. She was a foster parent for a few years.
Mrs. Thomas was good with crafts and horses, and loved to travel.
She is survived by one daughter, Julia Moreno of Satsuma; one son, Samuel;
three sisters, Cyndi Hower of DeLand, Sandra Miller of Macon, Ga., and
Gloria Lett of Glendale, Ariz.; and three grandsons, Douglas Hurlburt,
Matthew Hurlburt and Anthony Moreno, all of Satsuma.
Watts Funeral Home in Putnam County was in charge.

PIERSON — Clinton Larry Roach, 61, of Pine Street, died Feb. 5, 2008, at his home.Mr. Roach was a welder in the pipe-fitting industry. Born in Oakridge, Tenn., he moved to Pierson in 1978 from DeLand.He was a 1965 graduate of DeLand High School. Mr. Roach was a member of United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 295, and was an avid hunter, four-wheeler and mudder. He was preceded in death by his father, Clinton Roach, and one grandson, Clinton Trevor Roach. He is survived by his wife of 40-and-one-half years, Viola; one son, Clinton Travis Roach and his wife, Maxine, of Pierson; one daughter, Kim McCormick and her husband, Donnie, of DeLand; his mother, Lula Mae Roach of DeLeon Springs; two sisters, Donna Landall of Orlando and Sandra Chennault of DeLeon Springs; and two grandsons, Justin McCormick and Hayden McCormick. Allen-Summerhill was in charge.
